Management and Employees Create the Good Working Day Together

Management and Employees Create the Good Working Day Together

By Head of Waste and Recycling, Klavs C. Nielsen and HUMI

Based on the question of how we jointly ensure that every day is a good day for all of us, the management of Middelfart Affald og Genbrug had invited all employees to a 4-day value seminar with the consulting company HUMI, to focus on that topic.

A course that was planned as 4 half days, spread over 2 consecutive days per. week, where the employees across both work tasks and knowledge of each other as colleagues, had the opportunity, to do focused work on creating the foundation that in the future will be the mainstay of the community for the management and employees of Middelfart Affald & Genbrug.

It was a very proud and happy Head of Waste and Recycling who, at the end of day 4, was able to take stock of a successful seminar.  Klavs Clemens Nielsen says;

"It makes me really happy and proud to see how committed the employees went into the process and made it their own."

Through analyzes, consequences, visions and actions, the future values were prepared for both management and employees. Values described as actions in everyday life based on a will and a sincere desire to lift and strengthen the community - not least, to show good fellowship every day, with trust, honesty and respect for each other in the forefront.

It was with great satisfaction that the team leader Karen Hansen during the 4 days observed new sides of the employees.

"I find that the employees' reaction has been enormously positive and the way they are now starting to think about their body language, their mutual communication and their influence on each other has been absolutely fantastic." says Karen Hansen.

For Mona Jørgensen, employee at the recycling site in Middelfart, the experience was very positive.

“I have taken a lot with me from the seminar. In particular, I am now more aware of reading body language - both at work and in private. And then I have taken it with me that if I have doubts about whether I have understood my colleague correctly, I just ask an clarifying question, so I am sure that I have not misunderstood anything. ”

That it made sense for both management and employees is according to Poul Erik Fuglsang, Team Leader of the Driving Team, one of the key reasons for the success of the value seminar.

'Employees' active participation every 4 days testifies that HUMI's method compared to previous courses, has suited them and their daily lives better - they have put it into words and it has made sense to them.'

Torben Enemark, employee at VAD says:

"It's great that it has been opened up that the management will hear how we think and feel that we have been allowed to say our opinion."

About the course of events the 4 days Martin Andersen from the Driving Team has to say;

“I feel that we are on the right track, and there have already been changes since the seminar. People are happier, the community has gotten better, we talk more together across the board and there is just a better atmosphere in general. ”

For Martin Andersen, it is also very much about communication. "We must remember to communicate and say things as they are - both from employees to management but also management to employees."

There is no doubt that a common foothold and direction has been created for the community in Middelfart Affald u0026 Genbrug. Morten Bang-Møller, Administration employee in Waste u0026 Recycling states;

'It's great to see how we all across administration, space people, garbage men, management, so agree on what it takes to secure the community. Personally, after the seminar, I have even more respect for my colleagues' work across the board. ”

'It's great to see how we all across administration, space people, garbage men, management, so agree on what it takes to secure the community. Personally, after the seminar, I have even more respect for my colleagues' work across the board. ”

Although the cornerstone has been laid for a strong community, there is at the same time a common understanding of and willingness for everyone to pull on their work clothes and ensure that the agreed values are complied with in everyday life.
